Auckland shooting: Woman injured after being shot with air gun in Mt Roskill, 'scared' neighbour flees home

A neighbour has recalled the terrifying moment she was forced to flee from her home after a woman was shot with an air gun in Auckland on Wednesday morning.

Police said they responded to a report of a person with a single gunshot wound on Fulljames Ave in Mt Roskill at around 3:10am.

The woman was transported to hospital with injuries understood to be non-life threatening, police said.

Hanan Omar lives in the house adjoining the victim and told Newshub the shooting woke her up and forced her family to flee their home.

"We were already all asleep - me, my husband and my kids - and when we heard these things we already woke up," Omar said.

"I don't know what happened but it's too scary what we hear and we left our home because of all these things."

Omar said she heard two gunshots and the incident was "scary".

"We are really scared and when I wake up and hear these things I put my hand on my ears because I don't want to hear anything," she told Newshub.

"I'm still shaking and still scared and the Government has to sort everything out about the guns."

Omar is originally from Jordan and said the shooting remained her of living there.

Police said enquiries into the shooting are ongoing to establish what occurred but believe an air gun was used.
