Auckland crime: Police investigate burglary at Michael Hill jewellery store in Pukekohe

Michael Hill jewellery shops continue to be targeted by thieves, with one of its Auckland stores robbed on Monday morning.

Police said in a statement they were investigating a burglary at the Michael Hill store in Pukekohe. 

Emergency services responded to reports of the burglary on King Street at around 4.03am. 

A police spokesperson said enquiries into the burglary are ongoing, which includes figuring out what was stolen from the store.

It's the third time the Pukekohe stored has been targeted recently. 

Footage from the scene shows windows smashed and shattered glass on the footpath. Armed police were at the scene following the incident and alarms could also be heard ringing out through the town centre. 

Police urge anyone with information about the burglary to come forward and speak to them.

Michael Hill stores have been a popular target for criminals. 

Its shop on Broadway in Newmarket was targeted for the second time in just over a month at the end of August.

Last month, five offenders broke into a Takapuna store - with footage from the scene showing one of the store's front doors completely shattered and glass scattered over the entrance to the shop.
