Auckland crime wave: Thieves carry out elaborate ram-raid on Newmarket tech store

An Auckland tech store has been ram-raided on Wednesday morning as the latest crime wave hitting the city continues.

Thieves carried out the elaborate ram-raid in Newmarket where they carefully navigated a footpath to smash into a PB Tech store.

The store was targeted shortly after midnight, with a Nissan Tiida crashing through a security gate and into the store.

A tow truck had to carefully extract the vehicle from the storefront.

A police spokesperson said enquiries are ongoing following the ram-raid at PB Tech.

"A group of offenders have entered the store and stolen a number of electronic items before fleeing in a second, stolen vehicle," the spokesperson said.

The spokesperson said anyone with information about the ram-raid should contact police.

"Anyone with information is asked to call Police on 105 or on online at www.police.govt.nz/use-105, using 'Update My Report'. Please reference 221019/3557. Information can also be provided anonymously via Crime Stoppers on 0800 555 111."

It comes a day after Auckland was hit by four burglaries across the city in Mission Bay, St Johns and Parnell.

A day before that, four food outlets were targeted across Auckland on Monday.

Five youths were arrested for two burglaries near Auckland Airport while an investigation continues into the other two break-ins.
