A man assaulted in central Christchurch on Tuesday, October 18 has died.
The 61-year-old was attacked on Cashel Street in central Christchurch at 6:20pm, on Tuesday, October 18.
Earlier police said the victim was in Christchurch Hospital in critical condition.
On Wednesday, an 18-year-old was in Christchurch District Court on a charge of wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
Police said further charges for the alleged offender will be considered.
Enquiries into the attack are ongoing.
