Police arrest second person after serious assault leaves Warkworth man in critical condition

Police have arrested a second person after a serious assault on a man in Warkworth earlier this month left him in a critical condition.

"A 19-year-old male has been charged with assault with intent to injure and is due to appear in the North Shore District Court tomorrow," Detective Senior Sergeant Chris Goldsmith said in a statement on Wednesday.

Det Snr Sgt Goldsmith said police have been making enquiries after an argument between a man and a group of people in vehicles was reported on December 9.

"Shortly after, the man was found seriously injured on the side of the road and was transported to hospital," Det Snr Sgt Goldsmith said.

Police previously reported a 21-year-old man is currently before the courts charged with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and injuring with intent to injure.

The victim remains in hospital in a critical but stable condition.
