One person critically injured after car hits pedestrian in Auckland

One person is in a critical condition after a serious crash between a pedestrian and a car in Auckland on Saturday.

The accident happened at Redmond Street, Ponsonby, in central Tāmaki Makaurau, police said.

Emergency services rushed to the scene after the crash was reported at about 12:40pm.

Motorists are advised to avoid Pompallier Terrace and Jervois Roads while cordons remain there.
