Man arrested after aggravated robbery at Wellington pub

A 45-year-old man has been arrested and charged after an aggravated robbery at a bar in Te Whanganui a Tara / Wellington on Sunday.

Two men went into the Strathmore Local pub in Strathmore Park at about 9:30pm, where they threatened staff with a knife and bat and stole cash.

James Stewart, acting Detective Senior Sergeant in the capital, thanked the public for coming forward with information.

"This morning, Police including CIB and the armed offenders squad executed a search warrant at a residential address in Strathmore Park," he said in a statement on Friday.

"Wellington CIB are following strong lines of enquiry to identify and hold further offenders to account."

Police continue to appeal for information from the public, Det Snr Sgt Stewart said.

The man is due to appear at Wellington District Court on Saturday.
