Police hunt for driver after woman critically injured in Napier hit and run

A woman is critically injured after being hit by a car in Napier on Thursday. 

At about 6pm, the woman was in the front yard of a Wyatt Ave address when a Mazda Astina struck her and pushed her into a tree. 

Detective Senior Sergeant Sally Patrick said the driver then fled and the car was later found nearby on Dockery Ave.  

"The victim is in a stable condition in the intensive care unit at Hawke’s Bay Hospital." 

Det Snr Sgt Patrick said police believe the Mazda was involved in a collision with a vehicle parked on Wyatt St and another on Roberts Tce "moments before the woman was struck" 

Police and the serious crash unit are investigating the ordeal and are asking any witnesses, anyone with information or CCTV camera in the area to come forward.
