Two people arrested, police hunt for another after thieves threaten bar staff with knife, steal cash in daylight Auckland robbery

Two people have been arrested and the hunt is on for a third after they allegedly confronted Auckland bar staff with a knife and stole cash last month.

Detective Senior Sergeant John De Heer from Auckland City Police said the aggravated robbery occurred at Edinburgh Castle Bar and Restaurant on Symonds St in Eden Terrace on September 21.

Officers were called at 11:30am following a report of offenders entering the bar, with one of them armed with a knife.

"The victim was unharmed and the offenders have fled the scene with an amount of cash," Det Snr Sgt De Heer said.

Following the aggravated robbery, police have followed "positive lines of enquires", including CCTV, which has led to two arrests.

Police executed four search warrants last Thursday at addresses in the city, Mt Eden, Albany and Belmont in relation to the robbery.

"We are pleased to have been able to make arrests in this matter, and hope it brings reassurance to the wider community."

Snr Sgt De Heer confirmed police are still searching for another person and are following several positive lines of enquiry.

"We are working hard to identify this person and hold them to account," he said.

Two men - 38 and 41 years old - will appear in the Auckland District Court later this month.

The 41-year-old is charged with committing burglary with a weapon.
