Napier police are hunting for Nastashia Edwards after a hit-and-run last week where a woman was crushed into a tree and critically injured.

Police have issued an arrest warrant for Edwards in connection to the hit-and-run.

At about 6pm on Thursday, the woman was in the front yard of a Wyatt Ave address when a Mazda Astina struck her and pushed her into a tree.

Detective Senior Sergeant Sally Patrick last week said the driver then fled and the car was later found nearby on Dockery Ave.

Det Snr Sgt Patrick said police believe the Mazda was involved in a collision with a vehicle parked on Wyatt St and another on Roberts Tce "moments before the woman was struck"

Police believe Edwards can help them understand what led to the victim receiving life-threatening injuries.

Anyone with information on Edwards' whereabouts is asked to contact police via 105, referencing the file number 231026/8591.
