Mobility scooter driver who died after crash with motorcycle in Rotorua named

The man who died following a crash in Rotorua on Tuesday morning has been named by the police.

Edward Joseph Duffy, 88, died at the scene after a motorcycle rider collided with his mobility scooter.

"Our thoughts are with his family and loved ones," a police spokesperson said in a statement.

The crash, which happened at the intersection of Amohau and Tutanekai Sts at about 10.20am, is still being investigated.

Anyone who saw the motorcycle before it hit the mobility scooter is asked to come forward and speak with the police.

"We would also like to hear from anyone who may have dashcam or CCTV footage of the motorcycle prior to the crash," the spokesperson said.
