Police have arrested two men following a homicide in Auckland on New Year's Day.
Two teens were found unresponsive in a vehicle at around 3:20am on New Year's Day on Manurewa's Addington Avenue, before being rushed to hospital.
Both men aged 17 and 19 suffered gunshot wounds and were left with critical injuries, with the 19-year-old later dying in hospital.
"A 19-year-old male has been arrested and charged with murder, wounding with intent, and unlawful possession of a firearm," Detective Senior Sergeant Rob Hunkin said on Wednesday.
"Additionally, an 18-year-old male has also been arrested in relation to the matter and has been charged with unlawful possession of a firearm," he added.
Both men are due to appear in the Manukau District Court on 17 January.
Police said the homicide investigation is ongoing and urge anyone with information to contact them on 105 or online using Update My Report and referencing file number 240101/2378.
