Probe underway after man found dead outside Dunedin home

An investigation is underway after a man was found dead in Dunedin this morning. 

Emergency services rushed to a house on Hilary Street, Liberton at around 9am on Monday after reports of a sudden death.

Police have confirmed the death is currently being treated as unexplained.

"Cordons are in place and the public can expect to see an increased police presence while enquiries are undertaken into the circumstances of the incident," a police spokesperson said. 

"There is not thought to be any ongoing safety risk to the public arising from the incident."

A neighbour told Stuff that the man's body was found by a friend lying outside the house covered in glass and blood.

A Hato Hone St John said staff responded with one manager, however, they were not required for transportation.
