AM hosts throw jabs over misspelt Auckland bus stop sign

The hosts of AM are dumbfounded by a misspelt Auckland bus stop sign, questioning if it was done purposely as a climate protest.

A bus stop on Te Atatū Rd has the words "BUS SOTP" marked out in big yellow letters.

Newshub confirmed the mistake was still present at 8pm on Tuesday.

This left the AM hosts with questions when they discussed it on the show on Wednesday morning.

"You had one job, go back to school," AM co-host Lloyd Burr said while newsreader Nicky Styris was shocked just saying "Wow".

As Styris tries to pronounce the misspelt word, Burr wonders if it was done as a climate protest.

"State of the planet," Burr said. "What can SOTP stand for? Maybe it's a climate protester? When is the last time you went to a bus sotp?"

Fellow AM co-host Melissa Chan-Green questioned why the words were the way round they were.

"I've always wondered, should they [the words] be that way around. I know you're driving  over it, so you drive over it and you see bus stop, but naturally you read it from top to bottom... it doesn't make sense."

Burr said he also wondered that with the give way sign.

"I've always thought that as well, like way give, when you go up to the way give. Just write it give way, Burr said.

Watch it above.
