Five teenagers arrested in fleeing driver incident across Auckland

Five teenagers have been arrested after a fleeing driver incident across south and west Auckland overnight.

Counties Manukau West relieving area commander Inspector Ross Ellwood said the vehicle was seen travelling at speed, after being allegedly stolen from an address on Scott Avenue, Māngere Bridge around 1:30am Friday.

Police attempted to stop the vehicle after it entered the South-Western Motorway, however, ground units pulled back as it fled at high-speed.

Insp Ellwood said the Police Eagle Helicopter tracked the car as it headed west toward Te Atatū.

The vehicle was spiked on Te Atatū Road and it came to a stop a short time later on Royal View Road.

All five occupants were arrested, including a 19-year-old female, who Newshub understands had fled on foot into her family home.

She is due to appear in the Manukau District Court on Friday morning, while a 15-year-old male is due to appear in the Manukau Youth Court. 

Three others, aged between 13 and 17, have been referred to Youth Aid.
