New allegations of inappropriate behaviour surface against Green MP Julie Anne Genter

New allegations of inappropriate behaviour have surfaced against Green MP Julie Anne Genter with a Wellington business owner claiming the politician grabbed her.

Genter is facing disciplinary action from the party after crossing the floor and shouting in the face of a Minister in Parliament on Wednesday.

After 33 years in the retail business, Nicola Cranfield has decided to close her Wellington store because of changes to the central city.

"There was just so much uncertainty around what was going to be happening outside of my door, and the council are adamant that this

Golden Mile transformation's happening," she said.

And it was her thoughts on those changes that she wanted to discuss with Green MP and former Associate Transport Minister Julie Anne Genter when she says she saw her at a park before Christmas.

"I thought it could be quite a nice conversation and I thought maybe she'd be kind of interested in what a small business owner had to say, someone on the ground," Cranfield said.

But Cranfield claims the conversation turned ugly.

"She really bristled and got quite defensive and then she tried to walk away from any responsibility and say 'I'm not in power anymore, it's not my doing'. And that's when she grabbed my arm," Cranfield said.

She says she felt intimidated.

"Oh yeah. I was really scared. I'm quite petite. Yeah I was quite rattled afterwards."

On Wednesday evening, Genter accosted Minister Matt Doocey while Parliament was sitting - standing over him and screaming.,

She was quick to say sorry but the Green Party made it clear she was out of line.

"We make absolutely no excuses for it. It was unacceptable behaviour and Julie Anne has apologised for it," Greens co-leader Chlöe Swarbrick said.

But a Wellington Regional Councillor worries too many lines have been crossed after alleged experiences he's had with Genter.

Simon Woolf claims Genter approached him inappropriately on two occasions.

One, when he was the photographer at an event, and the second when he was at an awards ceremony for his mother.

He alleges the MP was in his face and very animated.

"It was unfortunate, and it was unexpected, and it was certainly inappropriate," he said.

"She's very very forceful and very very passionate. And unfortunately some of that passion, she gets carried away and it crosses the line."

On Thursday Newshub revealed an altercation occured between Genter and Newtown florist Laura Newcombe.

"This is how she conducts herself, she is a bully," Newcombe said.

In response to today's claims, the Green Party co-leaders wouldn't comment on camera. But a spokesperson said they had no prior knowledge of the allegations.

"You've got to be a wee bit suspicious about allegations after the event, but they've come from a variety of sources, a familiar story in each one. And you do wonder, given the closeness of party caucuses - particularly small ones - how come other people weren't aware of this," political commentator and former MP Peter Dunne said.

"I stood up because I believe something needs to happen, in a positive sense, to resolve what's been going on and what's been happening for quite some time," Woolf added.

Genter is already facing Green Party disciplinary action following Wednesday's outburst.
