Police on Friday released photos of two men they want to speak to after a duck shooting incident in Alexandra last weekend.

Two women received minor injuries after being shot with pellets while walking along a track by the Clutha River on Sunday.

Police said it was believed the shots were fired by a group of men duck shooting from a boat in the river. 

Although the hunters spoke to the injured women and offered assistance they then left in their boat and have not yet been identified.

Police said after investigating the incident, they would like to speak to the men.

On Friday they released photos of two people on Facebook.

"Police are seeking information regarding the two people pictured, following an incident near the Clutha River in Alexandra on 1st May," the post said.
