Michael Maguire has named a new-look Kiwis squad for the test against England in Denver on Sunday (NZT).

Warriors hooker Isaac Luke returns to the side, having missed out on selection for the Rugby League World Cup.

He's joined by club teammates Ken Maumalo and Peta Hiku, as well Warriors-bound Leeson Ah Mau.

As expected, Roger Tuivasa-Sheck, Shaun Johnson and Tohu Haris have not been selected after Warriors management reportedly made them unavailable for the test.

The three high-profile stars have all had injury woes during the first half of the 2018 NRL season.

The club had previously stated only players who were 100 percent fit would be permitted to travel to the US.

Uncapped Newcastle Knights duo Herman Ese'ese and Slade Griffin have been included, as well as Brisbane Broncos' Jamayne Isaako, Wests Tigers' Esan Marsters and  Canterbury Bulldogs' Raymond Faitala-Mariner.

Manly enforcer, Martin Taupau has also been named after earlier voicing his concern over the timing of the test.

Speaking to NRL.com, Taupau said his decision would come down to whether he could play against Penrith the following week.

"It all depends if I'm able to come back and back up that following weekend," he explained. "That is the issue.

"It all comes down to the transparency between the club and the New Zealand Rugby League [in terms of rest and player welfare].

"I have to look after myself the right way. If I'm not 100 percent, then obviously I can't do anything."

Maguire's task of naming a squad was made harder following the retirements of Simon Mannering, Russell Packer and Ben Mautilino earlier this week.
