The Chiefs welcome back serious reinforcements for their Super Rugby quarter-final against the Hurricanes at Westpac Stadium on Friday night.

First-five Damian McKenzie returns from an enforced All Blacks rest, while Sam Cane, Charlie Ngatai and Nathan Harris have all recovered from lingering Injuries.

It was hoped that the knockout match would signal the much anticipated return of 13-test All Black prop Nepo Laulala, however he hasn't been cleared by the medical staff to play.

Laulala suffered a fractured forearm against the Blues in March.

Liam Messam has been named at No.8 after coming off the bench last week, meaning Jesse Parete drops to the reserves.

Sean Wainui also returns to the Chiefs backline, replacing Tony Pulu on the right-wing, meaning bench spots for Marty McKenzie and Alex Namkivell.
