ANBL: New Zealand Breakers hand Sydney Kings first win of the season

A poor shooting display has seen the New Zealand Breakers blown off their own court 101-78 in their round two clash with the Sydney Kings.

It was all Breakers early on with Tai Wesley getting the home sides offense rolling, scoring eight points in the first five minutes.

Meanwhile, David Wear lead the charge for the visitors, keeping his side in the game with two early threes.

The visitors took an 11-point lead into the second quarter as the Kings continued their hot shooting. But some determined defense and late baskets for the Breakers saw them draw to a 48-40 deficit at half-time.

In the third quarter, Wear combined with centre Andrew Bogut, whose dominance on the boards saw the visitors to a 12-point lead heading into the last quarter.

Missed three-pointers for the Breakers was the theme of the afternoon as they finished with a miserable 22 per cent from outside.

The only shining light from the loss was Wesley, who dropped 19 points on 7-15 shooting.

The Breakers will move on to face the Adelaide 36ers at Spark Arena on Sunday 28 October.
