Australian burn survivor Turia Pitt takes on Coast to Coast

Completing the Coast to Coast requires resilience and positivity, and Turia Pitt has plenty of that.

Of the thousand-plus competitors in the endurance race, the Australian burn survivor's story is possibly the most inspiring of them all.

Eight years after nearly dying in a bush fire, Ms Pitt began her first Coast to Coast on Friday, a 30 kilometre mountain run.

"My expectations of the race is just to enjoy myself and just to have fun," said Ms Pitt before the race.

She later admitted it was tougher than she thought it would be.

"I was thinking at the start I would love to do the whole thing, and now that I have done the run, I dunno how I feel about that now. But maybe I will change my mind tomorrow," she said.
