Golf: Lydia Ko claims top-20 finish at Women's PGA Championship

Kiwi golfer Lydia Ko has finished in a tie for 18th at the Women's PGA Championship in Pennsylvania.

Ko fired a final round of one-over-par 71 to finish three over at the Aronimink Golf Club, 17 shots behind winner Sei Young Kim of South Korea.

Just eight golfers finished the tournament under par.

While a top-20 finish is a solid achievement, Ko will be somewhat disappointed, after she was in a commanding position through the opening rounds.

A bogey on the final hole in the first round cost Ko a tie for the lead and she was just two shots behind after the second round.

But a back-nine capitulation during the third round ended Ko's hopes of winning her first title since April 2018.

Ko got off to a rocky start in the final round, with three bogeys on the front nine. She recovered with two brides on the back nine.

Meanwhile, Ryan Fox has tied for 20th at the latest European PGA Championship at Wentworth in England.

Fox shot a two-under 70 on the final day to finish seven under for the tournament, 12 shots behind winner Tyrrell Hatton of England.

Fox will now return to New Zealand, as he awaits the birth of his first child.
