Athletics: Kiwi Tom Walsh finishes fourth in final shot put Diamond League event in Zurich

Kiwi Tom Walsh has finished fourth in the Diamond League Finals shot put event at Zurich.

In a disappointing finish to the season, the Olympic bronze medallist's best throw of 21.61m was more than a metre behind winner Ryan Crouser.

The hulking American world recordholder has dominated the last month, winning two Diamond League events and claiming gold at Tokyo.

Crouser claimed his first Diamond League crown, with Walsh (three) and American Joe Kovacs winning the last four titles.

Kovacs, the Olympic silver medallist, finished second at Zurich, with Serbia's Armin Sinancevic third.

Crouser scoops US$42,000 and the Diamond League trophy for his effort.
