Rugby: All Blacks snubbed for World Rugby Player of Year award, as Ian Foster makes coaching cut

No All Blacks player has made the shortlist for World Rugby's 2021 Player of the Year.

Coach Ian Foster, who could end up with a 13-2 record should the All Blacks repel the challenge of France this weekend, has been nominated for Coach of the Year.

Black Ferns Sevens coaches Alan Bunting and Cory Sweeney are also in the hunt, after guiding New Zealand to Olympic gold in July, while captain Sarah Hirini is up for Women's Sevens Player of the Year.

All Blacks Sevens co-captain Scott Curry has been nominated for Men's Sevens Player of the Year.

Last time All Black or Black Ferns 15s players missed nomination was 2004.

The Men's Player of the Year finalists are Wallabies captain Michael Hooper, Samu Kerevi (Australia), Mario Itoje (England/British & Irish Lions) and Antoine Dupont (France).

All Blacks winger Will Jordan has been nominated in Breakthrough Player of the Year, while Luke Jacobson's touchdown against Argentina is up for Try of the Year. Wallabies coach Dave Rennie joins Foster on the nominations list.
