Kia ora, good evening and welcome to Newshub's live coverage of the NRL clash between NZ Warriors and Wests Tigers at Campbelltown - home of the old Western Suburbs Magpies.

Neither of these two teams have managed to win over the opening two weeks of the new season, with the Warriors blowing a golden opportunity against Gold Coast last week and Wests blown off the park by Newcastle.

Coach Nathan Brown will field his third different halves combination in as many weeks, with Kodi Nikorima and Chanel Harris-Tavita the latest to occupy those jerseys. Apart from that, he's remained loyal to the line-up that started against the Titans.

Hopefully, Matt Lodge can hold down his lunch a little longer this week.

Meanwhile, NZ Kiwis and Tigers coach Michael Maguire is already under the pump, after barely surviving last season. He's made a couple of late changes to his original team, with young Aucklander Starford To'a coming into the centres and Jock Madden into the halves.

Of course, former Warriors winger Ken Maumalo may always have a point to prove against his old team.

Join us for kickoff at 8pm.

'Grateful they understood': Warriors NRL star released from contract

NZ Warriors centre, turned back-rower Euan Aitken will depart the club at the end of the 2022 NRL season, released from the final year of his contract to stay in Australia.

Aitken, 26, joined the Warriors for the 2021 NRL season on a three-year deal, playing as a centre, before coach Nathan Brown successfully moved him into the forwards.

With the Warriors due to return to New Zealand next season, after being based in Australia since 2020, Aitken has been granted an early release to stay close to his family.

"The club was really good about it, when we approached them," Aitken has told the Daily Telegraph

"Brownie [coach Nathan Brown] has always shown great care for his players and I am grateful that they understood my situation."

Aitken has no contract lined up for 2023 and beyond, but is now free to negotiate with any interested clubs.

Meanwhile, Aitken will start in the second row, when the Warriors chase their first win of 2022 against Wests Tigers on Friday.
