Super Rugby Pacific: Roger Tuivasa-Sheck ruled out of Blues clash against Highlanders with shoulder injury

The Blues will be without star recruit Roger Tuivasa-Sheck for their Super Rugby Pacific round four clash against the Highlanders, after a shoulder injury suffered against the Chiefs.

Tuivasa-Sheck, 28, was substituted at halftime of the Blues' 24-22 victory at Eden Park on Saturday, as coach Leon MacDonald confirmed both he and Harry Plummer had suffered "serious" shoulder injuries.

"There's a couple of injury worries with Harry and Roger, both shoulders, so that's a bit tough," MacDonald said post-match.

"They look relatively sore and serious so fingers crossed they're not too bad."

As a result, neither of Tuivasa-Sheck nor Plummer will be considered for selection to face the Highlanders at North Harbour Stadium on Friday.

Tuivasa-Sheck will have a scan later in the week in the hope of ascertaining how serious the injury is.

Meanwhile, 23-year-old Plummer has been confirmed to have suffered a partial dislocation of his shoulder, with the Blues' medical team ruling him out for "several weeks".

The Blues are seventh on the Super Rugby Pacific table after their first two matches, with five points following one win and one defeat.

Their opponents the Highlanders meanwhile are 10th, yet to secure a victory this season after opening with three straight losses.
