Moana Pasifika captain Sekope Kepu has received a three-week ban for his dangerous tackle against ACT Brumbies on Saturday.

The veteran prop - making his 150th Super Rugby appearance - was dealt a red card by referee Mike Fraser for a high tackle on winger Andy Muirhead just 11 minutes into his team's upset 32-22 win over the Australians at Mt Smart Stadium.

The SANZAAR judiciary deemed Kepu's tackle met the threshold for a six-week ban, which was reduced to three weeks, taking into account his guilty plea and his "remorse and acceptance of foul play".

The suspension - which runs until June 25 - will have no bearing on Moana Pasifika's fortunes, with the side missing out on the Super Rugby Pacific playoffs.

The newcomers finished at the bottom of the standings with two wins and 12 losses in their inaugural campaign.
