NRL 2022: Euan Aitken shifts back to centre as NZ Warriors name side to face Wests Tigers

NZ Warriors have made just one change to their starting side for Sunday's Mt Smart Stadium homecoming, welcoming back Euan Aitken to face Wests Tigers.

Aitken, 27, missed the Warriors' 40-6 defeat to Penrith Panthers with concussion, but has recovered during the NRL's week off to start against the Tigers.

Aitken will line up at centre alongside Jesse Arthars, after a successful switch to the back row.

The Warriors' return to Mt Smart will end a 1038-day wait for a home game, after three seasons based in Australia.

Halfback Shaun Johnson returns to Mt Smart for the first time since 2018, when he left for Cronulla Sharks. Johnson never visited Auckland during his three seasons for Cronulla.

Rookie Ronald Volkman starts at five-eighth, partnering Johnson in the halves, while Reece Walsh and Wayde Egan complete the spine.

In the starting side, 10 Warriors players will make their first home appearances at Mt Smart.

On the bench, prop Bunty Afoa will become the 28th player to make 100 appearances for the club.

The Warriors hope to end a seven-match losing streak against the Tigers - they haven't tasted victory since defeating Canberra Raiders in April.
