Super Rugby Pacific: Injury rules star Crusaders flanker Ethan Blackadder out of playoffs

All Blacks and Crusaders flanker Ethan Blackadder has been ruled out of the Super Rugby Pacific playoffs.

Blackadder suffered a dislocated shoulder during Friday's 37-15 quarter-final win over the Reds at Christchurch.

The nine-test All Black's prognosis isn't completely clear yet and he'll undergo further scans this week to determine the expected recovery time frame.

Nevertheless, the Crusaders have confirmed he won't be available for Friday's semi-final against the Chiefs or the final, should they advance.

The 27year-old can also be considered in doubt for the All Blacks' upcoming test series against Ireland in July.

Tom Christie will likely replace Blackadder on the side of the scrum for their knockout match against the Chiefs, alongside fellow loose forwards Pablo Matera and Cullen Grace.
