9:35pm

If you're looking to kill some time before kickoff, catch up with Newshub rugby reporter Ollie Ritchie's preview from Melbourne.

9:30pm

Good evening!

This rare midweek test promises to be a cracker. A win tonight will guarantee the All Blacks the Bledisloe Cup for another year - but Dave Rennie and the Wallabies will have a lot to say about it!

We're under the roof at Marvel Stadium tonight, so of course conditions are perfect. Here's hoping for some classic running rugby.

We're about 25 minutes away from kickoff, so stay tuned!

********

Kia ora, good evening and welcome to Newshub's live coverage of the Bledisloe Cup test between the All Blacks and Australia from Melbourne's Marvel Stadium.

Test rugby on a Thursday? You better believe it.

Thanks to Melbourne's infatuation with Aussie Rules, the first men's trans-Tasman test of the year is played midweek, rather than risk a TV ratings war this weekend.

The All Blacks don't mind though. New Zealand have held the Bledisloe since 2002 and victory tonight would guarantee them bragging rights for a 20th straight year.

Coach Ian Foster has been forced into a major reshuffle among the forwards, with Ardie Savea absent for the birth of his third child and Hoskins Sotutu making his first appearance of the year at No.8.

Scott Barrett also returns to No.6 for the first time since the first test of the year - the 42-19 victory over Ireland - with Shannon Frizell missing.

Brodie Retallick reclaims his spot in the second row, after starting from the bench against Argentina two weeks ago.

In an inconsistent year, the Wallabies can lay down a huge marker tonight, in the hope of pulling off the mother of all heists at Eden Park later this month.

In a shock selection, Wallabies coach Dave Rennie has recalled Bernard Foley to the No.10 jersey, but only time will tell if he's able to help Australia beat the All Blacks for the first time since 2020.
