*********

Live coverage begins at 9am

Kia ora, good morning and welcome to Newshub's live coverage of the final Hamilton leg of the World Sevens Series, from Waikato Stadium.

At one point New Zealand boasted the best sevens event on the planet in Wellington, but this weekend marks the last time - for now at least - Kiwi fans can see their teams playing on home soil.

The news comes as New Zealand's two sevens programmes stall a tad on the world stage, with neither the All Blacks Sevens nor Black Ferns Sevens currently top of their respective pools.

New Zealand's men sit third, behind leaders Samoa and South Africa in second place.

Meanwhile the previously all-conquering Black Ferns Sevens are second in the standings behind Australia - albeit with both level on 38 points.

A win for either or both of the New Zealand sides this weekend will be a huge boost if they're to add another world title, all in the build-up to next year's Olympics in Paris.

Day one schedule:

All Blacks Sevens v Tonga - 10:16am
Black Ferns Sevens v Papua New Guinea - 11:44am

All Blacks Sevens v Australia - 2:06pm

Black Ferns Sevens v Fiji - 3:12pm

All Blacks Sevens v Great Britain - 7:35pm

Black Ferns Sevens v Great Britain - 8:03pm
