Last week's rumours that Samsung's flagship Galaxy smartphones will be launched in early  February suggested a new series of tablets would be announced at the same time.

A new leaker has backed up that information with reported specifications for the Galaxy Tab S8 lineup, which includes an 'Ultra' edition for the first time alongside the more traditional S8 and S8 Plus.

All are expected to be unveiled at the South Korean giant's 'Galaxy Unpacked 2022' virtual conference on February 8, US time. Pre-orders are expected to open the next day with sales due to start on February 24.

Availability, ordering and pricing information for New Zealand can be expected after the event.

Website WinFuture, which has provided reliable information in the past, also posted images of the new devices, which they say will be powered by Qualcomm's new Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chip.

The devices will also include an Adreno 730 graphics unit to support the eight-core chip.

The Ultra will have a huge 14.6-inch display with a notch for dual front-facing cameras and a screen resolution of 2960x1848 pixels, WinFuture reported.

Gorilla Glass 5 will protect the Super AMOLED display, which is said to boast a refresh rate of up to 120Hz. The Ultra will come with up to 512GB of memory and up to 16GB of DDR5 RAM, according to the reports.

The more basic S8 and S8 Plus are said to offer 8GB of RAM and either 128 or 256GB of memory, depending on what price the user wants to pay. MicroSD cards can apparently be used to extend the storage on all three.

The 11-inch S8 won't have an AMOLED screen and a lower resolution of 2560x1600, while the AMOLED screen on the 12.7-inch S8 Plus offers a 2800x1752 display, according to the report. It adds that both units will match the 120Hz refresh rate of the Ultra.

The models will all come with similar rear cameras - a 13MP lens and a 6MP ultra wide-angle lens, according to WinFuture.

The camera on the front is said to be 12MP on the lower-end models, with the Ultra having two 12MP sensors in its front notch.

All will reportedly have quadruple integrated speakers supporting Dolby Atmos and feature Android 12 software with Samsung's own One 4.1 user interface.

The S8 will apparently have a 8000 mAh battery, the S8 Plus a 10,090 mAh battery and the Ultra a 11,200 mAh battery, according to the leak.
