The mobile network 2degrees says it has resolved technical issues that plagued many of its customers on Tuesday.

Earlier on Tuesday, the social media account Downdetector NZ tweeted: "User reports indicate 2degrees is having problems since 2:40 PM NZDT. RT if you're also having problems."

One person commented "unable to make calls or texts in Christchurch", and another said "can't make calls in Auckland".

At 3:19pm, 2degrees tweeted: "Kia ora everyone, we're aware that some customers are currently having trouble calling, texting and using their data, as well as using some of our self-service tools on Your 2degrees and our app. The team are on it and are working really hard to have this fixed ASAP.

"We'll keep everyone updated here on Twitter as the team work through this. We're really sorry for the hassle and thank you for your patience."

One person commented: "Can I receive compensation? I couldn't pay for my groceries now they are all melted."

In a statement to Newshub later on Tuesday, 2degrees acknowledged many of its customers had issues with a range of calling, text, and data services from around 2:30pm.

"We identified the issue promptly and it has been resolved," they said.

"The vast majority of our services were up and running by 4pm and we are working to reboot a few services such as the data clock app. We really appreciate our customers patience with this issue, which we understand would have been very frustrating."

On Monday night, 2degrees said they would be conducting some maintenance between 10:30pm Monday and 3am Tuesday, but there wouldn't be "any trouble texting, calling or using mobile data during this time".

The mobile network said customers may have trouble topping up their phones or using the app during the maintenance period.
