Tokyo Olympics: Diving

  • 01/01/2021

Diving made its Olympic debut at St Louis 1904, with events including the 'plunge for distance', and has featured at every Games since.

United States has won more medals (138) and gold (49) than any other nation, dominating the early years of competition, but since 1984, China (40 gold) has begun to make up ground, winning seven of the eight events contested at Rio 2016.

New Zealand has contested diving at four previous Olympics and will be represented by Anton Down-Jenkins in the men's springboard at Toko.

Elizabeth Cui competed in the women's springboard at Rio and also qualified this time round, but was not selected, after falling pregnant.
