An Ohio grandfather's brave footwork has seen him lauded a hero.
The man, who police have identified as 'Bill', was waiting outside a Columbus library for his grand-daughter when a person pursued by police came running towards him.
CCTV footage then shows Bill intercepting the offender by tripping him with his right leg, a move that most likely saved the young 18-year-old's life.
The police have praised Bill's move as preventing them from having to draw their weapons.
The man in question was carrying a pistol at the time of the arrest, and has a lengthy criminal record. He has since been returned to prison.
"Community involvement, be it by courage, bravery and/or fancy footwork, helped take a criminal off the streets of Columbus," a YouTube post from the Columbus Division of Police said.
"Thank you 'Bill' for sticking your leg out for us."
