Watch: The bizarre way US politician Billy Long drowned out a protester

A US politician has gained fame on the internet after using an auctioneer's chant to drown out a conservative protester.

Laura Loomer began shouting about the censorship of conservatives on Twitter while its chief executive Jack Dorsey faced the House Energy and Commerce Committee.

"Please help us, Mr President, before it is too late, because Jack Dorsey is trying to influence the election," she shouted.

"To sway the election, so that Democrats can steal the election! That is why he is censoring and shadow-banning conservatives!"

Members of Congress called for order, and Missouri representative Billy Long exclaimed he didn't understand what she was saying.

He soon tired of her protests, and broke out into a fast-paced auctioneer's chant, calling for bids on the phone Ms Loomer was using to film her speech.

She was then led out of the room by security. Mr Long, a professional auctioneer before he went into politics, joked to those assembled as she was led away: "I yell back."

Ms Loomer told news website Vox she believed Mr Long's actions during her protest were "sexist" and "disgusting".

She later took another snap at Mr Dorsey as he left the hearings, asking for her Twitter verification to be reinstated.

Vox reports it was taken away last November when the company removed verification from users who advocated for white supremacy or identified as Nazis.
