'Worst nightmare': Woman left to die on US highway on horror first date

A US woman is believed to have been left to die on a busy highway after falling from a motorbike on her first date with a man she met online.

Jennifer St Clair, 33, was found lying on Interstate Highway 95 in Pompano Beach, Florida at around 3am on Friday (local time).

Police say her body had been accidentally struck several times by passing vehicles, US television station WBBF reports.

Ms St Clair's family say she was picked up by a man on a motorcycle the night before her death to go out on a dinner date.

Her family say her date drove off, which is when she fell off the bike.

Witnesses have come forward saying they saw a man on a motorbike leave the scene. The man is yet to identified and arrests have not been made.

Her grieving family's attorney Todd Falzone described the incident as "every parent's worst nightmare".

"We don't know how anybody could do something like that - it's the hardest part," Ms St Clair's aunt Amy Gamer said at a media conference.
