Prince Philip gives up driver's licence

Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh, has given up his driver's licence, Buckingham Palace has announced.

"After careful consideration The Duke of Edinburgh has taken the decision to voluntarily surrender his driving licence," a statement from the palace says.

Prince Philip was involved in a crash in January 2019.

Two people in a car that collided with that of the 97-year-old prince were taken to hospital with minor injuries, and later discharged. A baby was also in the vehicle.

The crash took place near Sandringham Estate, Norfolk county.

The prince was pulling out of a driveway onto a main road when the accident happened.
