A woman confronting the armed intruder used a "pot containing hot grease" to defend herself, according to police in Decatur, Alabama.

Police say they were called on 1 August after Larondrick Macklin broke into the woman's house carrying a firearm.
When they arrived, Macklin had burns on his face and needed to be taken to hospital for medical treatment.
An investigation determined Macklin to be the "primary aggressor in the altercation", and he was charged with burglary in the first degree and domestic violence in the first degree.
Macklin was being held in jail in lieu of $300,000 bond, police said.
