A Florida man says his pregnant wife saved his family when she fatally shot an intruder during a home invasion.

The family were relaxing at home on Wednesday night when two intruders broke into their home and pointed guns at Jeremy King, his pregnant wife and their 11-year-old daughter.

After telling the men he had no money, the pair attacked King and allegedly grabbed his daughter. King suffered numerous injuries.

"I've got a fractured eye socket, a fractured sinus cavity, a concussion, 20 stitches and three staples in my head," King told Bay News 9.

While the intruders attacked her husband, King's eight-month pregnant wife went to see what was going on.

When one of the intruders shot at her, King's wife returned with an AR-15 semi-automatic rifle, firing one round and fatally shooting one of the intruders while the other escaped.

King told Bay News Nine his wife retreated into the back bedroom when the home invaders broke into their house.

"When he [intruder] came toward the back door in her line of sight (my wife) clipped him. He made it from my back door to roughly 200 feet out in the front ditch before the AR did its thing."

King said his wife saved his life by evening the playing field.
