Trump Jr says dad not racist because he was allowed to play with accused paedophile Michael Jackson

Donald Trump Jr is defending his father from accusations of racism, saying the President can't be a bigot because he was allowed to play with accused molester Michael Jackson as a child.

Trump elder has a history of controversial comments, with a poll last year finding half of American voters think their President is a racist.

In July he was denounced by Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern after tweeting four American Congresswomen should "go back" to the countries they "originally came from".

However in upcoming book Triggered: How the Left Thrives on Hate and Wants to Silence Us, Trump Jr lashes out at his dad's critics.

As evidence, he argues that when he was a child, Jackson lived in Trump Tower and would come over to play with him and his brother, Eric.

"Oh, and by the way, given all the things my father has been called, particularly a 'racist', it sure sounds odd that he'd let his son vacation with a black man or hang out with Michael Jackson, doesn't it? If he's a racist, he's sure not very good at it," he writes in one passage, Bloomberg reports.

Jackson, who died in 2009, has been accused of using his fame to allegedly groom and sexually abuse children.

The 2019 documentary Leaving Neverland left audiences and critics "shellshocked" after presenting graphic allegations from two men claiming the singer abused them as children.

Wade Robson and James Safechuck who claim Jackson befriended and then sexually abused them starting when they were just seven and 11 years old respectively.

Jackson, who repeatedly denied sexual abuse allegations and was acquitted of child molestation charges in 2005, allegedly initiated sexual contact with the children during sleepovers before inviting them on trips

Trump Jr also uses his book to describe special counsel Robert Mueller as a "feeble old fool" at the head of a "crooked investigation", and says the 'squad' of four leftwing Congresswomen - including Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Ilhan Omar - should be renamed "Hamas caucus", according to the Guardian.
