An enormous snake was found underneath a child's car seat in Queensland this week and his mother is warning other parents about the dangers.

The eastern brown snake was discovered by the young boy when the family were commuting in Toowoomba on Tuesday night.

"I left my window open and this fellow [snake] found his way into the car and went for a ride 20km into town under the car seat - only to pop its head out while sitting in the car," the unnamed woman said.

Spooked locals wrote on social media confirming the snake was an eastern brown.

"Heart attack material!" one Facebook user said.

"I would be in therapy for bloody years if this happened to me," another wrote.

According to Australian Geographic the eastern brown is the country's most dangerous snake.

It's described as being fast-moving and aggressive with the second most toxic venom of any land snake on earth.

The woman told 7 News the find should act as a reminder to other parents.

"Please be careful, the drought has made all the wildlife come closer in search of food and water."

Another parent had a close encounter with an eastern brown last year. An Adelaide mother was packing her child's lunchbox, finding the snake hiding under the lid.
