A man in the US has been caught driving with a skeleton in the passenger seat so he could use a carpool lane.

An image uploaded by the Arizona Department of Public Safety showed the 62-year-old's bony friend wearing a camo hat and carrying a chilly bin.

"Think you can use the HOV lane with Skeletor riding shotgun? You're dead wrong!" the tweet said.

HOV stands for high-occupancy vehicle. The bizarre scene happened in Tempe, Arizona.

"#NiceTry #YoureNotHeMan," the tweet ended, referring to He-Man, Skeletor's nemesis in the classic '80s cartoon.

The driver was given a ticket, and also cited for "window tint violations". 'Skeletor' wasn't wearing a seatbelt, but was tied to the chair with yellow rope.

The Associated Press reports the skeleton was not a real one, thankfully.
