A new poll of registered voters by the New York Times has revealed Joe Biden is leading Donald Trump by 14 percent.

Trump was sitting at 36 percent and Biden 50, nearly four months out from election day.

Biden has garnered support from Black and Latino voters, "with 79% of Blacks and 64% of Latinos saying they would vote [for him]", CNN reports.

But it's an equal race for white voters. Bloomberg reports that Biden had the vote of 43 percent, and Trump 44 percent.

According to Bloomberg, the poll is the largest majority Biden has seen this year.

But registered Republicans remain faithful to Trump and give the President a lead of 19 points within that group.

Trump's campaign spokesperson Ken Farnaso said the 2016 election polls did not place Trump in the lead either and was not fazed.

"2016 proved that the president's ability to connect with the American people is unmatched."

However, data from the poll shows about two-fifths of white people aged over 65 said they did not agree with the way Trump had handled the COVID-19 response or recent race relations.
