Donald Trump claims to have won two Nobel Peace Prizes, says he deserves another

Donald Trump has claimed to have won two Nobel Peace Prizes and said he deserves another, before correcting himself during a speech on Sunday.

The US President was on the campaign trail over the weekend, holding rallies ahead of the 2020 election on November 3.

On Sunday, he spoke to supporters outside an airport hangar in Londonderry, New Hampshire in a rambling speech which lasted an hour and a half.

Most attendees wore face masks but there was no room for social distancing as hundreds packed into the grandstands.

During the speech, Trump mentioned the economic normalisation deal which, Reuters reported, was signed by Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic and Kosovan Prime Minister Avdullah Hoti in September.

The deal was completed at the White House, alongside Trump, who was believed to be attempting to play up his deal making skills on the international stage.

Trump called the agreement a "major breakthrough", however, political analysts told Reuters the deal was underwhelming and hazy.

On Sunday, Trump told supporters: “What we've done is pretty amazing".

"Serbia and Kosovo, so we signed a deal, so they gave me a Nobel Prize for that, they gave me a Nobel Prize for something else, they should give me a Nobel Prize for what I did in Syria, when I said Nobel Prize -nomination, I don't know."

Trump was in the running for the 2020 peace prize, along with New Zealand's Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern, the World Health Organization (WHO) and climate activist Greta Thunberg.

He was nominated by Norwegian lawmaker Christian Tybring-Gjedde for helping to broker a deal between the UAE and Israel.

However, the NZ$1.7m prize was awarded to the UN World Food Programme on October 9 for its efforts to combat hunger and improve conditions for peace in conflict-affected areas.

The US President was also reportedly touted to win the prize in 2018 for the peace agreement between North Korea and South Korea.
