Have your say: Is it time for Donald Trump to concede the US Election?

  • 14/11/2020

It's now been nearly a week since major US media outlets projected Democrat Joe Biden had secured enough electoral college votes to become President in January.

His projected win in Pennsylvania pushed Biden over the line, but since Sunday, he's also secured Georgia, Arizona and Nevada, taking him to 306 votes to Donald Trump's 232. To win the presidency, a candidate needs 270 votes.

Since results swung Biden's way last week, Trump has refused to concede, instead launching legal action in numerous states he lost and making allegations of electoral fraud. Officials have not reported any significant irregularities

Trump did, however, on Saturday suggest he wasn't sure which administration would be in the White House after January 20 next year.

While the incumbent has many supporters, some high-profile Republicans have publicly said he should concede and get the transition of power underway. World leaders - including Jacinda Ardern and Xi Jinping - have congratulated Biden on his victory.

Is it time Donald Trump concedes the election?
