US Election 2020: Paul Henry unsure if he 'could bring himself' to vote for Joe Biden

Paul Henry has revealed he doesn't know if he "could bring [himself]" to vote for Democrat Joe Biden in this year's US election.

Biden and President Donald Trump have been battling it out for months in the lead-up to the election, which will be held on November 3 (local time).

Trump is hoping to secure a second term as president, but the latest polling shows Biden is favoured to win.

Henry told The Project on Tuesday he would've voted for Trump in the 2016 election.

"I would've last time, this time - I don't know if I could bring myself to vote for Biden," he said.

"The true sadness here is that in four years, the Democrats, and the system in general, has failed to listen to the people that voted Trump in. And instead of that, they've been trying to stonewall Trump, they've been trying to impeach Trump, rather than say, 'Let's make sure he doesn't get in again'."

Henry left New Zealand and jetted off to his home in Palm Springs, California in May, only to come back a few months later.

He said while he "loves" living in the US, he admits COVID-19 "has been handled so badly" there.

"There's always a bit of a crisis in the United States when they're coming up to a presidential election, but at the moment it is extreme," he said.

"None of the problems in the States are down to Trump, Trump hasn't started any of these problems, but he has thrown matches on the gasoline."
