New South Wales records 882 new COVID-19 cases, two deaths

New South Wales has recorded 882 cases of COVID-19 on Friday -  a drop from Thursday's numbers.

Two more people have died from the virus - a man in his 60s and a man in his 90s.

The man in his 60s died in Nepean Hospital after catching the virus there earlier in August. His is the third death linked to the hospital. 

The man in his 90s died at Concord Hospital, having acquired his infection at Canterbury Hospital. His is the fifth death linked to an outbreak at this hospital.

The 882 cases is a drop from Thursday which saw NSW record more than 1000 new infections.

There are currently 767 COVID-19 cases admitted to hospital, an increase of 69 since Thursday.

Of those, 117 people are in intensive care, 47 of whom require ventilation.
