Shocking video has emerged about a passenger who tried to stab a flight attendant mid-air with a broken spoon.
The attack happened on Monday's LA to Boston flight where a man stabbed a member of the United Airlines crew in the neck three times.
CNN reports the flight crew noticed one of the plane doors had been disarmed and the locking handle had been shifted out of the locked position.
A flight attendant saw Francisco Severo Torres, 33, by the door and asked him about it.
"According to court documents, the flight attendant then notified the captain that they believed Torres posed a threat to the aircraft and that the captain needed to land the aircraft as soon as possible," the Justice Department told CNN.
The footage shows Torres, around 45 minutes from landing, yelling from his seat and threatening a potential bloodbath on board.
He then stands up and continues his rampage, telling people to run if they don't want to be shot.
Torres then steps into the aisle raising a weapon, now identified as a broken metal spoon, and charges towards the flight attendants. He swings at them, stabbing a crew member in the neck and appears to knock her to the ground.
Other crew and passengers intervened, tackling him to the ground as he attempted to further injure the flight attendant.
Torres later told investigators he “had gotten the idea” to jump out of the plane and his attack on the flight attendant was in self-defense as he believed they were trying to kill him.
He was immediately arrested and taken into custody after the flight landed safely in Boston.
CNN reported the criminal complaint said Torres told investigators he broke the spoon in the bathroom to use as a weapon. He also said he tried to open the emergency door to try and escape.
CNN reported he told investigators he was trying to defend himself and tried to stab the flight attendant because he believed they were trying to kill him.
