US and world markets are waiting anxiously to see if US politicians can come up with solutions to the federal government shutdown and fiscal problems.
Meawnwhile, Europe shows signs of recovery, especially the UK. Manufacturing continues to grow and there's been strong gains in housebuilding and the service sector.
